Accessibility of this site

What we checked

This is not an official accessibility statement and not an audit by an external party. It is an honest list of what we went through ourselves, in a browser, on the public pages and in the client portal.

• Keyboard operation Every link, button and form field can be reached with Tab and operated with Enter or space. In the client portal every reachable tab stop was walked through.
• Visible focus Where you are with the keyboard is always visible, including on a dark background. This was checked per tab stop.
• Skip to content The first tab stop on every page skips past the navigation.
• Colour contrast Text and background were checked for contrast in both themes.
• Small screens The site was checked from 320 pixels wide. No text runs off screen and the page has no horizontal scrollbar.
• Reduced motion If you turn off motion effects in your system, the animations on this site do not move. That was measured, not assumed.
• Images Photos have alternative text in the language of the page. Decorative illustrations are hidden from screen readers so they are not read out.
• Structure Each page has one main heading and a logical heading structure beneath it, so you can jump through the page with a screen reader.
• Language The page language is set in the code, so a screen reader pronounces Dutch as Dutch and English as English.

What we do not claim

We do not say this site fully meets WCAG 2.2 level AA. That would require an assessment we have not commissioned, and it would not be honest either: part of the client portal is built from components we did not write ourselves and have not reviewed line by line.

We have also not tested with actual screen reader users. What is listed above was checked with a browser, which is not the same as the experience of someone who uses one every day.
